PROGRAMMING ANNOUNCEMENT
November 21, 2008 – Toronto, ON – It’s the season for giving, a time for good cheer and maybe, just maybe, a little friendly rivalry amongst loved ones. Throughout the month of December Food Network is launching an assortment of heart warming (and heart stopping) seasonal programming sure to get you in the holiday spirit. The world broadcast premiere of ‘Twas The Night Before Dinner brings together some of Food Network Canada’s favourite chefs, Anna Olson, Anthony Sedlak, Ricardo Larivee, Laura Calder and Bob Blumer. In this special presentation these chefs find themselves spending the holidays in a cabin in the woods, sharing their favourite holiday recipes and traditions with one another. For further gastronomic inspiration this season, tune into two new specials including a Jamie At Home Holiday Special, hosted by Jamie Oliver and an In Search Of Perfection Christmas Special with Heston Blumenthal. However, if it’s competition you crave, you won’t want to miss the Canadian premieres of Extreme Holiday Cakes and Iron Chef America: Cora vs. Symon Holiday Battle where two Iron Chefs battle each other in a holiday kitchen stadium throw down. Food Network’s holiday programming begins December 7 and is sure to inspire and entertain all month long.
Food Network holiday specials include:
Extreme Holiday Cakes (Canadian Premiere)
Sunday, December 7 at 8pm ET/9pm PT repeating Saturday, December 13 at 4pm ET
Pyrotechnics meet pastry in this challenge as four top cake artists square off to make Christmas cakes that spin, smoke and explode. However, mechanical ambition leaves everyone ripe for failure. The competitor that can blow the roof off of Christmas will take home $10,000 and a gold medal.

Jamie at Home: Christmas Special (Canadian Premiere)
Thursday, December 11 at 10pm ET/11pm PT repeating at Sunday, December 14 at 10pm ET
In this hour long special Jamie takes the strain out of preparing a Christmas dinner and allows you to re-claim your Christmas day. He walks us through the elements of the perfect roast dinner and offers up tips on how to prepare and cook birds, how to roast the perfect potatoes, dress the perfect greens and make sensational mince pies. By following Jamie’s advice and tips your Christmas culinary preparations should be stress free forever more.
‘Twas The Night Before Dinner Special (World Broadcast Premiere)
Saturday, December 13 at 7pm ET/4pm PT repeating at Saturday, December 20 at 1pm ET
Twas The Night Before Dinner brings Anna Olson, Anthony Sedlak, Ricardo Larivee, Laura Calder and Bob Blumer together in an extraordinary holiday adventure. A mysterious invitation, a cozy wilderness cottage and an unseen holiday spirit conspire to create memories and traditions that are truly the centre of the holidays. The chefs treat us to their favourite holiday recipes and celebrate the timelessness of the season. From the farmhouse kitchen comes a variety of delectable dishes, from mulled wine, warm turkey breast with stewed cranberries and bread pudding to gingerbread smoothies and apple and sugar pie just to name a few. This is one holiday feast you won’t want to miss.
In Search of Perfection Christmas Special (Canadian Premiere)
Thursday, December 18 at 10pm ET/11pm PT repeating Sunday, December 21 at 1pm ET and 10pm ET
Heston pushes the boundaries of multi-sensory cooking to the limit, taking inspiration from the past, present and future of Christmas. His six guests all have one thing in common – a genuine love of food and Heston’s aim is to make them feel like children again albeit with some very sophisticated tastes.
