PROJECT RUNWAY CANADA WRAPS UP
HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTION SHOOT IN OTTAWA
AN ALL NEW SEASON WITH HOST IMAN
DEBUTS JANUARY 2009 ON GLOBAL
(TORONTO – September 12, 2008) – It’s a wrap… Project Runway Canada completed its shoot yesterday in the nation’s capital, and the all new season promises an exciting installment of 12 drama-filled episodes as the contenders experience their most thrilling fashion highs and grueling lows. Legendary fashion icon, Iman returns as Host, alongside series mentor, cherished Canadian designer Brian Bailey.
Premiering January 2009, Project Runway Canada makes its highly anticipated debut on Global.
“The amazing and creative fashion talent we have across our country is outstanding, and we couldn’t be more pleased to be putting the spotlight on the beautiful city of Ottawa,” said Karen Gelbart, SVP, Lifestyle Content, Canwest Broadcasting. “We’re looking forward to sharing the excitement, challenges, successes and pitfalls the designers face, and demonstrate what it takes to be crowned Project Runway Canada’s top designer.”
Ottawa Tourism welcomed an involvement with Project Runway Canada as a way to showcase the city’s vibrant energy — a place where national cultural treasures rub shoulders with refreshing outdoor activities, where festivals and events showcase the city’s relaxed urban vibe.
“It’s been exciting to have Project Runway Canada film in Ottawa,” says Noel Buckley, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism. “The city’s fashion scene — from established designers like Richard Robinson or Justina McCaffrey to the up-and-coming young designers on Dalhousie Street North — is keeping pace with recent innovations in the culinary and cultural sectors. There’s an energy here that is great to capture.”
Produced expressly for Global Television and SliceTM by Insight Productions, Project Runway Canada will premiere new episodes on Global followed by an encore presentation on SliceTM. Fans can stay tuned to Global Television and www.globaltv.com for all up-to-the-minute information.
“Ottawa has been a great backdrop for our series,” says Andrea Gabourie, Supervising Producer of Project Runway Canada at Insight Production Company Ltd. “Its a cosmopolitan city with a great focus on the arts and culture, so Ottawa was a natural choice for a fashion-based reality series.”
The Project Runway format is licensed to Insight Production Company Ltd. by FremantleMedia Enterprises, the brand extension arm of FremantleMedia, the commercial division of FremantleMedia, one of the largest creators, producers, distributors and licensors of programme brands in the world.
