Good Looks = Good Fortune? 85% of Canadians and 95% of Slice TM Viewers Think So.

SliceTM goes behind the scenes, getting the dirt on the Canadian launch of the hotly debated online networking site for beautiful people only

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORONTO – September 11, 2008 – Introducing Greg Hodge and Robert Hintze – owners of the largest online network of attractive people in the world, beautifulpeople.net. Greg and Robert have travelled to Canada to launch the Canadian version of this controversial global phenomenon and SliceTM has followed their journey every step of the way. Premiering Monday, October 6 at 9pm ET/PT on SliceTM, BeautifulPeople goes behind the scenes into Greg and Robert’s lives, two men who’ve created an online empire built on looks, and shows how Canadians have responded to their site. Recently commissioned surveys amongst Canadians as well as SliceTM panelists determined that 85% of Canadians and 95% of SliceTM viewers believe physically attractive people have an easier ride through life.* Does this mean that looks really do matter? Only the series will tell.

European playboys Robert and Greg, who have already established their controversial web site in Japan, Asia and Europe, are now invading Canada, travelling throughout Toronto, Calgary and Montreal in search of our “beautiful people”. SliceTM viewers are introduced to the ultimate in guilty pleasure programming as they witness the truth behind a business that blatantly excludes the average and extols the virtues of the extraordinarily attractive as Canadians are either accepted or rejected solely based on their physical appearance. “There’s beauty in everyone,” says Robert Hintze, owner of beautifulpeople.net. “But that doesn’t mean that everyone’s beautiful.” The controversy around their international business is endless; however, it’s a business they believe is just being honest.

Greg Hodge, Managing Director of beautifulpeople.net says: “The concept behind the Beautiful People network is based on the simple fact of human nature that people want to be with someone they are attracted to. There is nothing shallow in that. It may not be PC, but it’s certainly honest.”

After polling Canadians and SliceTM panelists, there is something to be said for BeautifulPeople’s Darwinian philosophy and Canadians’ ideas on beauty and their significant others:
 61% of Canadians surveyed in an Ipsos Reid national survey agree that looks are important when selecting a partner.
 68% of SliceTM panelists surveyed believe that physical appearance is important when selecting a partner.

How do Canadians fare in the online world of beautifulpeople.net and to what lengths will they go to be deemed part of this elite social network? It’s all part of BeautifulPeople, Mondays at 9pm ET/PT beginning October 6 on SliceTM.

*Ipsos Reid national survey of 1,005 Canadians. Results are accurate within +/-3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. National survey of 469 Slice Panelists developed by Strategic Counsel for Slice TM. Results are accurate within +/- 4.5 percentage points 19 times out of 20.
